The Huntsville Grand Prix Events
Site Re-Construction in progress... stay tuned

At this time, the Huntsville GP 6 will be May 30th and 31st, 2025.

While in past years this event was open to all registrants, (and mostly all were accepted) this year will focus on elements that we believe of importance. It is not, open to anyone.

To attend with your cyclekart, you must bring your invitation.

In the end, it's our event. We want what we want. It's nothing personal if you don't get invited. If you don't get invited, it might mean one should try harder. We would like to display the best there is, both in car and driver ability combined.

The cars this year will be those that have shown they understand the hobby, actually can drive and follow directions, their car resembles their inspiration car and above all... are not there to win putting others and the public in danger.

The schedule this year is as follows:

Thursday / Friday: People can show up, and camp in the church lot. There are bathrooms in the church and the park just 100 yards away.

Friday: A free for all meet in the church lot. You can drive your cyclekart in the lot and around the park at a slow speed. Stay safe, and just cruise. There will also be a fun obstacle course on the street between the church & the park. Feel free to go play there. We're sure it'll be fun. Friday night will be food, bring cash to pay for it. It'll be good.

Saturday: Things fire up early. 7:30 am is drivers meeting. Miss it, and you don't drive. Disregard anything said in the meeting during the day, you're never coming back. We're pretty serious about this. Listent to Steve, Dennis and Kelly during this. 8AM, heats start.

This is an immense venture putting on this event and was originally organized mainly by one person costing thousands of personal dollars and many many hours of work, for the sport, YOU, and the Town. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone based on attitude, observed attitude/behavior (on public forums, etc.) and Numero-Uno, the look of your car exclusively. We'll of course try to get everyone in and we'd hate to turn anyone away, but this is a show... our show, and real cyclekarts. If you don't agree with our rules, please feel free to create your own gathering. It's nothing personal.

The HGP will strive to uphold the traditions observed by The original intent of the Stevensons, Gittreville, Tieton, and the known standards of the beautiful cars and artistic extensions that the cyclekart is known for.

This is a rain or shine event. We are running no matter what happens. Pack accordingly.

Some of the morning will consist of "gentleman's heats" or drives around course in costume. Seeing most of the public appears before lunch, that's how it will go.

After lunch, we'll dawn a little more and roar on with more spirited heats.

Due to the busy nature of Saturday, nothing is currently planned for Sunday.

Seeing it is a cyclekarting event, below is what you ARE EXPECTED to bring/do if you wish to participate.

You (and drivers).
1. Full faced helmet. Modular or flip-up face/chin helmets are not allowed due to the decreased facial protection they provide. No article we've found says otherwise and we're sticking with it.Why Most Modular Helmets aren't Snell Rated Once again, it is our event and our rules. Arguing with the organizer will not get a response. Someone ignored this last year. Perhaps we'll have a chat with em. To be fair however, if you have a SNELL rated modular helmet, you may use it.
2. Neck Brace
3. Close-toed shoes AND gloves
4. Long sleeved Shirt
5. Pants
Many use old time coveralls too, or race suits are welcomed.
6. Must be 16 yrs old and hold a valid drivers license. If under 18, parental consent form will be signed and PARENTS will attend a special drivers meeting AND will run only in a heat with other younger drivers. Minors, (that's ANYONE UNDER 18) are not allowed to drive in the main heats with veteran drivers.
6a. Teenagers that have a known & safe record of driving cyclekarts (or actual racers) as viewed over time on many forums, youtube & such, may drive in heats. Otherwise, follow 6 above.
7. Willingness to help if asked to.
8. EXPECTED. Bring a small display showing something about your car, inspiration photos, drawings... give the crowd something to look at.
9. Children driving cyclekarts around, No. Not happening.
10. When driving a cyclekart, you should always wear a helmet unless it's a picture shoot at SLOW SPEED, or the gentleman's drives. (they're 5 MPH folks)
11. ANY driver showing up on grid for a heat without the proper gear, will be asked to retrieve said required gear.
12. You cannot let local residents drive your cars in heats... Ever. If we see it, you're never coming back.
13. A fire Extinguisher.

Course flaggers: This year, we're bringing in course flaggers. These people, have the final say so. They are not racers, they are not builders. They are not drivers that substituted their wives to do their duties. They have every flag that matters. (green, yellow, Red & black)

Black flag events:
1. If you pass in a turn, you're done for that heat. Do it again, you're done for the event.
2. Skidding into any corner. If you're going so fast you have to do that, you're done.
3. Wheels off. Putting 4, or 2 wheels off course (e.g. onto someone's lawn) you're done. No second chances here. Do not drive on people's lawns.
4. Driving with the wrong gear. (short sleeves, etc.)
5. Going far too fast. Hey, we're in a town. There's kids & families. There are no trophies for winning anything.
6. Crashing into others while driving on course.
7. Wheels up: If you go on 2 wheels and know it... you should stop. If a flagger sees it and you don't stop... you're done for the entire event. That's way too fast.

Failure to pull off if black flagged results in you never coming back. End of story.

Red Flag Events:
1. Any crash. That's a full course stop, where you are. Do not cruise around... stop. That's the job.

Yellow Flag Events:
1. Any problem on course, but you can keep driving. That means pay attention. It's a town, and people do live there. If someone's pulling out of a driveway, you're stopping and waiting.. and enjoying the scenery.

Green flag events:
1. Drive. Common heats are 5 laps.

Your list of things to bring:
1. Full faced helmet
2. Neck Brace
3. Close-toed shoes AND gloves
4. Long sleeved Shirt
5. Pants
6. Your car
7. Fire extinquisher
8. A sane, mental state.

Information on "Tabiona" and "Desert Thunder" will appear here when ready.
